Bounty hunters and repo agents have a reputation for being rogues and working outside
the law. This is not typical of the average bail bonds recovery
agent. Unfortunately, we never hear of the great job
the skilled agent does, we only hear about the idiot who broke
into the wrong house or the loser who started a fight
with everyone on the block and produced a riot.
This business is regulated only to the point of
getting your license. Much like Executive Protection, there is no
training
mandated which will prepare you for the chaos you may
encounter. Our course is very close to the EP class but it takes
a more aggressive approach to crowd control, subject
custody, and team response. In this business you have to get in
and out as quickly and quietly as possible. You
don't want to fight the family of the subject or their friends.
Though many agents rely heavily on firearms, we teach
methods that rely on positioning, working as a team, and distraction.
Our main goal is to avoid a lethal response. Once you
employ your firearm you must make sure you can use it. Too
many times agents pull their guns hoping to threaten
the aggressor. Many times, however, these people don't value their
own lives and call your bluff. Once they see you will
not carry out your threat, they become increasingly more aggressive.
You can't shoot someone for blocking your path. What
do you do when the subject tell you to shoot them? Will you?
We teach methods of avoidance and deception that will
at the very least keep you in a safe position. You can't plan
for these assignments. You don't know what will
happen or who will be there. You must be able to use more than
just a firearm.
Classes will cover baton, weapon retention, OC spray
and foam, joint locks, takedowns specifically designed for handcuffing,
methods of standing the subject up after handcuffing,
quick frisks, spotting weapons, and escorts. We will
teach you how to move the subject efficiently while
using him as a shield. Your team will learn how to keep the crowd
busy while you make your arrest.
